The TIME4ME project works with young carers in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan aged 7-18 years old. They provide respite, one to one and advocacy for approx. 150 young carers. All of their young carers live in a home where someone is cared for. The young carers are dealing with varied needs of the cared for including physical, mental illness, special educational needs, drug and alcohol addiction and life limiting conditions. The young carers provide emotional, practical and personal care as required. Many of the young carers are isolated, lacking in confidence and in need of support and socialisation. The project endeavours to reduce isolation by providing respite from the caring role in the form of activities, trips, youth clubs, and residential and one to one support. It enables the participants to mix with their peers and unload concerns, issues and ask questions in a safe non-judgemental environment.
