DIVERSE COMPANY AWARD –
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is the principal public prosecuting agency for conducting criminal prosecutions in England and Wales. The CPS is one of the most diverse of the civil service departments both in terms of its staff and service provision. It has worked hard to maintain this accolade by being innovative and responsive to the needs of its staff and the wider community. The CPS has a 65% female workforce, which is higher than the Civil Service as a whole (54% female) and the UK population (51% female). The CPS has 21.2% Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) work force which compares favourably with both the wider Civil Service (9%) and is above the proportion of the UK population that is BAME (12%). The CPS has introduced a wide variety of HR policies and procedures which have supported their current representation levels by attracting and retaining a diverse workforce.
