At 16yrs, Talia Grant made history becoming the first autistic female and first BAME actor of any sex to play an autistic character in a mainstream drama. Joining Hollyoaks in 2018, Talia plays Brooke Hathaway, using her unique life experiences to highlight the challenges autistic people face in their everyday lives. Talia was nominated as Best Newcomer (British Soap Awards), Best Young Actor (Inside Soap). Diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at 7yrs old Talia grew up experiencing terrible struggles due to little autism awareness within the school system. Youth Ambassador of The National Autistic Society, Talia has delivered speeches in the House of Commons, the National Association of Head Teachers Conference, The Diana Award Anti-bullying Conference and Channel 4’s Disability Conference. Filmed NAS online training on Autistic Women and Girls, raised awareness on The Lorraine Show, Loose Woman, BBC Entertainment News and BBC Breakfast and promoted “Girls and Autism” for Routledge Books.
