COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR DISABILITY –
Spadework is a registered charity based on a five-acre site in Offham Kent. In 2019 Spadework celebrates 35 years of providing care, support and meaningful opportunities to adults with learning and other disabilities. The Spadework Trainees are involved in a variety of activities, from growing vegetables and plants, to making jams, chutneys, woodwork and craft items. All of the items are sold on site. The Trainees assist in the Spadework Farm Shop, Garden Centre and Café. In 2018, Spadework provided 73 451 hours of service to 111 adults. Spadework is open to the public 7 days a week. The Spadework Trainees interact and share their skills on this safe, stimulating and inspirational site. Spadework’s mission is to provide meaningful opportunities so that the Trainees can develop life skills, which will enable them to reach their full potential as independent members of the community.
