DIVERSE COMPANY AWARD –
South Yorkshire Police (SYP) serves a diverse population across four Districts; Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley. Over the past year they have worked tirelessly to drive internal diversity and inclusion and recruit more diversity into the Force. SYP implemented a Menopause support network, re-established their LGBT+ network, developed their first support networks for Dyslexia Dyscalculia Dyspraxia and Dysgraphia-SYP 4D, the Association of Muslim Police and addressed the GPG (Gender Pay Gap) through conferences, and mentoring. The force holds quarterly Diversity and Equality Boards, Chaired by their Chief Constable, with representation from across the force and of all ranks and grades. DCC Mark Roberts leads on all Positive Action work. Their BAME, Disability and LGBT+ workforce figures have improved year on year, and it is clear SYP are striving to make their Force more representative of the communities it serves.
