LIFETIME ACHIEVER AWARD –
After witnessing a friend’s bereavement and prolonged mourning following the passing of her husband, Oyovwe became aware of the lack of community support. This inspired her to establish ‘The Widows Empowerment Trust, a Manchester based charity promoting social inclusion in the lives of widows, widowers and others who have experienced bereavement. Oyovwe has become an ambassador and advocate, shaping an initiative to bridge the social gap facing bereaved spouses. Since its inception, Oyovwe has personally formed relationships with over 800 beneficiaries nationwide. In large this has been through 17 successfully completed projects including their regular schedule of activity workshops and fundraising campaigns. Now a researcher and motivational speaker, she has personally mentored over 300 young people aged 15-19 as part of The Challenge – National Citizens Service (NCS) and Head start programme to build confidence.
