COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR LGBT –
The aims of OutReach Cumbria is to promote equality and diversity for the public benefit, in particular the elimination of discrimination of sexual orientation and gender identity of those living in Cumbria and the surrounding areas. OutReach Cumbria has now been running for 25 years and have been the main contact of the LGBT+ community in Cumbria in this time whilst running a host of specialist projects. They work on a strategic level with a number of organisations, including the NHS, Cumbria County Council, the police and educational institutions including schools, colleges and the university. This superb charity have introduced rapid HIV testing into the community, run a monthly drop in group for young trans people and their families, and their magazine, Alphabet Soup has reached thousands of people in Cumbria and beyond, giving a voice to the LGBT+ community and allowing them to showcase their talents.
