As a child, Bex Band had undiagnosed dyslexia and was bullied, leaving her with low self-esteem – something that fed into her adult life. All that changed though when she decided to go on an adventure, hiking 1000km the length of Israel. Along the way two things happened. The first was that she regained her confidence. She also noticed a problem; a real lack of women in the outdoors. So, wanting adventures to be accessible to all, Bex set up Love Her Wild, a women’s adventure community. 2 years on and Love Her Wild now has over 6,000 members and has taken hundreds on all-female expeditions around the world. Love Her Wild also runs a mentoring program and has provided funding and gear to over 40 women who face financial or societal barriers.
