SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR AGE –

Jade is 14 years old and has ADHD. Struggling in a normal state primary school, she was often bullied and ridiculed by her peers and became depressed. Feeling isolated, paranoid and ambitionless, by age 10, Jade put herself on a restricted diet and began to self-harm regularly, even contemplating suicide. Through courage, work and patience, this incredible young lady left her past behind and now aims to become Miss Universe! She has spent the last two year’s sharing her story and inspiring children through her assembly called ‘Believe In Yourself & Follow Your Dreams’. Jade (currently ‘Miss Junior Teen Devon’) documents her 3 year journey as a pageant girl, the ups and downs, successes and failures; leading with a powerful message of hope, resilience and overcoming adversity. Jade has visited 43 primary schools so far and her message has reached approximately 11,500 school children.
