Geoff Holt MBE DL is a quadriplegic paralysed from the chest down, who has dedicated the past 33 years of his life to helping others share his passion for being on the sea. In 1997 Geoff sailed single handed around the Isle of Wight, surpassing this a decade later by becoming the first disabled person to sail 1,500 miles single handed around the UK. In 2010 Geoff became the first tetraplegic to sail unassisted across the Atlantic Ocean, a journey which took four weeks. In 2012 this remarkable role model founded Wetwheels, an organisation that takes all disabled people; particularly the most profound and complex disabled people, to sea on a custom-built, fully accessible powerboat. Wetwheels now has 5 Wetwheels boats taking more than 5,000 people on the water each year. This unique adventure is providing equality of access and opportunities for 80% of participants who have never been on water before.
