COLOURS Youth Network (CYN) was set up in 2016 by LGBT+ youth workers of colour from The Proud Trust, Bradford City Council and Gendered Intelligence, with the aim of supporting each other as workers and to support the creation and sustainability of youth work that centres the needs of LGBT+ young people of colour. Young people continually voice that in mainstream LGBT+ spaces their racial, cultural and religious identities are not recognised, reflected or affirmed and often feel unable to explore and be open about LGBT+ identities within cultural and religious spaces. CYN exists to provide spaces where young people can bring and celebrate their identities in full, without having to defend or explain who they. The network also seeks to create opportunities for LGBT+ young people of colour to meet and build support networks locally and across the UK.
