COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR LGBT –
Chester Pride has been active since 2013, with 2019 marking their seventh event. Over the past 7 years the event has grown from attendance of around 2,000, to last year having 3,000 in the parade alone, and around 15,000 attend the main event. Their geographical reach has also increased, with attendees coming from Cheshire, North Wales, Merseyside, Manchester, Shropshire and Staffordshire. The event stands out for its community focus, with specific areas for older people, families, young people, and high levels of accessibility including BSL interpretation, autistic friendly quiet areas, and accessibility viewing platforms and equipment. With over 100 volunteers supporting this charity, Chester Pride have been working to expand their outreach and engagement, providing services and support to the community year-round through advocacy, campaigning on LGBT+ issues and conducting awareness raising activities.
