Cheryl was born in Australia and attended the Universities of Bristol (BA Hons) and Birmingham (MA). She worked at the BBC in London for several years before setting up a theatre company producing and developing women’s plays. The founder and managing editor of Aurora Metro Books, she has published a diverse list of over 200 writers and won numerous awards over 30 years. In addition to publishing, Cheryl has produced exhibitions, conferences and documentary films. Since 2017, she has been campaigning for the first life-size statue of Virginia Woolf in the UK and has raised £9000 towards the £50000 target. The statue has received planning permission and will be located in Richmond where Virginia Woolf lived for 10 years. A public consultation was carried out which was 83% in favour of the project.
