COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR LGBT –
Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) groups are vastly under-represented within LGBTQI+ communities. However, research has found that the difficulties faced by this double minority group can often lead to increased proportions of mental illnesses and feelings of isolation. For many, this is due to cultural and societal pressures, as well as the lack of support from their community. Recognising the need for a space for members of the BME LGBT+ community to call their own, A.Z Mag Ltd began as an idea between a group of friends and progressed into what is now a growing non-profit online magazine, social space and recognised event organisers. AZ magazine have created a media platform that not only allows BME LGBT+ people to showcase their talents, but also allows them to address the issues that they face in the BME community. AZ Magazine is where Y(our) voice is heard.
