Nominee Profile
Location: Hull

Tourettes-Syndrome Inclusion in the Community (T.I.C.) fills a real gap. We are the only dedicated Tourette’s Syndrome and Tic disorder charity in the region.
We aspire to promote inclusion for individuals living with Tourette’s
Syndrome and Tic disorders, overcoming barriers and creating positive relationships. We thrive to ensure that nobody is left without the support they need which in turn we hope will reduce isolation and mental health difficulties. We also run a service for young people who are suspected or diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), providing a safe space to develop friendships, and navigate through education.
Our team all have first or second hand lived experience and we strive to support those who need us because we’ve been there ourselves. We work by:
Embracing & Celebrating - Providing a safe and non-judgemental space for young people to be themselves, creating friendships along the way
Providing Support - Providing high quality, knowledgeable advocacy to individuals, their families and carers, helping to navigate the journey of diagnosis, EHCPs and wider support needs
Informing & Educating - Providing information, advice, guidance and training on all aspects of Tourette’s Syndrome, Tic disorders, ADHD and their comorbidities
Working Together - Working in collaboration with schools and medical professionals to increase their knowledge and understanding of Tourette’s Syndrome and Tic disorders
Championing Inclusivity - Educating not just those we work with but society as a whole, making venues and services across the Humber region more TIC friendly
