The SPACE group Manchester was set up in 2021 by parents who are all volunteers and have disabled children themselves.
The group started off as a fortnightly support group session inviting local services in to delivering workshops, training, Q&A sessions and has grown over time. The group now offer support in schools by delivering coffee mornings, help parents fill in forms/referrals, travel across the city promoting various services and events. The group also deliver activities & events suitable for the whole household. These activities are a life saver for thousands of families across the city, they’re inclusive, accessible, fun and creates social events for SEND children.
The group prides itself in being a parent and child led group, so they listen to their service users which helps to ensure that the service they deliver is what families need. Because of this the membership is forever growing, and constantly evolving which keeps the group relevant .
