Nominee Profile
Location: Consett
I am a Founder, community builder, and Neurodiversity champion with over 15 years of experience in creating and running small, value-led businesses that support the self-employed and neurodivergent communities.
My role in all my organisations has always been to ensure clients thrive by celebrating their differences and strengths, and providing them with unique training opportunities, and helping them find their tribe.
Currently, I lead Celebrate Difference Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation that supports those who are neurodivergent thrive in their self-employment.
We offer training courses on everything ADHD and assist our clients when they apply for Access to Work funding, discovering which adjustments are reasonable for each of them and what support they need.
Recently, we have invested in, and now deliver, the QbTest, an objective ADHD measurement test which sits alongside other clinical processes on the journey towards diagnosis.
The feedback and clinical dicussions serve to validate our clients' thoughts and help them get answers to the many questions they have.
In addition, I co-own The HUB Consett, a unique spot in North West County Durham that comprises a shop, a cafe, training centre, and a safe space for neurodivergent adult training.
The HUB Consett was once the first hotel in the town, built in 1837 and is now home to MINT Business Club, Celebrate Difference and of course, our wonderful team who make it all happen.
The extensive renovations are enjoyed by a really wide mix of people from the local community who use it for co-workinflg, meeting friends and family, supporting local artisans and escaping the ferocious Consett wind!
