Nominee Profile

Location: Taunton
Laura has become a hugely positive role model for parents of autistic children & is building an incredible community with her Instagram account @spinningworldofautism. She advocates daily both for her autistic son & all other autistic individuals with all the work she carries out.

She is in conversation with Center Parcs about hugely needed changes to their inclusion policy & accessibility at their villages - this has resulted in reaching over 100,000 people with an Instagram campaign, 1000's of conversations with other disabled families & discussions with Center Parcs. They have informed Laura they are initiating a review of their accessibility & are considering introducing a Quiet/SEN hour at their pools. Laura's suggestions are currently with Head Office.

Laura's Instagram account has created a positive community - where she shares a real insight into the challenges of raising an autistic child - whilst sharing a positive & loving take on the journey.

Laura has has recently been interviewed by Autism Unlimited who are developing a training package for parents of autistic children to use some of her insights as snippets throughout their training. And, Laura will be leading training at her doctor's surgery to GP's sharing some do's & dont's when you have an autistic individual in your waiting room.

Laura is currently in discussions with the paediatrician who diagnosed her son, Ethan, about distributing a flyer she has designed herself for parents of newly diagnosed children to be given straight away. This will be positive, informative & easy to digest directing parents to useful info & charities. It's the flyer she needed herself 18 months ago! This is now live & out there!

Laura is a force to be reckoned with in inclusion & advocacy - I can't wait to see what she does in the future. In addition to the above, she has a newsletter which already has 500+ subscribers & is organising South West meet-ups with other parents of autistic children. A positive role model, 100%.
