Frank Mainwaring
Nominee Profile
Location: Lincoln
My name is Frank Mainwaring and I suffer from poor mental health which limits my ability to leave my flat and engage with people. In 2019 I was challenged by my psychiatrist to find a solution.
Working with an Occupational Therapist, I founded All Access Games as a mental-health peer-support network to aid those suffering from social isolation through mental health issues or other socially-limited conditions.
All Access Games provides spaces and tabletop games and gaming materials which allows for people to meet, socialise and form connections and friendships over time. Our approach is to provide these services continuously throughout the year.
In 2019 we started with one group a fortnight, and today we run weekly groups totalling 17 meetings a month and are continuously seeking partnership opportunities to run more so more people can be helped.
I can only surmise that I had been nominated for this honour by a member of one of our groups due to my continuing efforts to provide and nurture the community we offer which is open to anyone with an interest in games or needs a safe space to socialise and the fact that do so in the face of a severe limitation of my poor mental health.
