As a late diagnosed neurodivergent woman, and parent carer of a beautiful 11 year old daughter - who has a severe learning disability, is nonspeaking autistic, with a rare genetic condition and a recent diagnosis of epilepsy - Amy is a positive role model and fierce advocate for the learning disability and autism community. As a parent carer who supports others to amplify their voices, while helping others make positive change within the disability community.

Amy created her instagram platform @neurodivergent_girls to inform, educate and positively support others in the neurodivergent community given her own lived experience, and innate caring and compassionate nature to help others within her safe and accepting space online, and in person within her local community in Bristol and North Somerset.

With many years experience of providing much needed care, support and leadership in her professional capacity by supporting children and adults as a Mental health and specialist community public health nurse, more recently giving her precious time to support other parent carers, and volunteering as a school governor in order to help enable positive change for Children with complex learning disabilities; a community whom continue to experience significant health inequalities and outcomes.

Amy also shares her lived experience of women’s health conditions such as PMDD, which disproportionately impact neurodivergent women. Having undergone major surgery in 2023 to treat her own severe PMDD, she plans to further develop her skills in this area to ensure no female with a learning disability and autism should struggle with women’s health issues.

Her kindness and genuine compassion towards others is recognised by many. Despite her own significant caring responsibilities, and managing her own Ill health over the past 12 months or so, she has maintained her caring nature by informing others, while facilitating their own voices to be heard.
