POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR DISABILITY –
Ade Adebisi, also kn¬own by the nickname of ‘London Flyer’, is a British – Nigeri¬an rugby league foot-baller. Ade is the only prof¬essional rugby player to have a genetic disorder known as si¬ckle cell disease (S-CD) one of the most common genetic causes of illness and dea¬th in the world. He has defied the odds many times and used this to create posit¬ive awareness on the disease and promote Rugby League to the disabled community. Today, Ade is the brand ambassador for the BioMedomics product called Sickle Scan; the world’s first rapid Sickle cell diagnostics kit. He is also leading Nigeria’s Rugby Le¬ague revolution as Vice Chairman and Gen¬eral Manager. The former London Br¬oncos player has spe¬nt two years trying to get the African nation involved with the 13-a-side code for no money. Under his leadership, Nigeria has been chosen to host the Mi¬ddle East and Africa (MEA) Rugby League Championship in October 2019.
