Accessible Arts & Media is a well-established York based charity who use the arts, music and performance to help people come together, grow in confidence and learn new skills. Over the past 37 years, they’ve brought inclusion and diversity to the forefront and a large number of votes demonstrates their value within the community. They’ve given a wide range of people opportunities to come together to share their skills, creativity and passion through projects such as therapeutic music sessions for people with dementia and a training programme where learning disabled adults become workshop leaders. Since 1982, this outstanding organisation have directly engaged over 10,000 people, delivering over 1,000 creative learning sessions last year alone. Their achievements include being among the first to bring singing and signing to the mainstream in the UK, with the formation of their Hands & Voices choir in 1997.
