Tony Kelly, a London-born graduate of Mico Teachers’ College, dedicated 30 years to local and central government, focusing on equity, diversity, and inclusion, before retiring. He holds a master’s in socio-legal studies from the University of Birmingham. As a Diabetes UK Community Champion, Tony educates communities about diabetes while managing his own type 2 condition through diet and exercise. He serves on the National Diabetes Prevention Programme steering group and, widely advocating as Diabetes Strategic Patient Partner. Tony engages in numerous media interviews, workshops, and community initiatives, emphasising a positive approach to health. Acknowledged in health reviews and publications, Tony’s awards include the British Citizen Award and the Black Honours Award for lifetime achievement. He’s committed to global diabetes awareness, delivering sessions across Jamaica and Barbados, and impacting lives through education and advocacy.
