Community Organisation Award: LGBT
Time for Inclusive Education (TIE) is Scotland's LGBT Inclusive Education charity. Their goal is for all young people to grow up in a society free from homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. TIE believes education is the most powerful tool to address this prejudice, and to ensure that this education is available to all young people, everything they provide for schools is free of charge. Starting as the TIE Campaign, they led the movement that saw Scotland become the first country to embed LGBT Inclusive Education throughout the curriculum. Now, as an educational charity, TIE makes this commitment a reality by working with schools across Scotland to provide teaching resources, run workshops for pupils, and deliver professional learning for teachers. Their work ensures LGBT young people feel included and helps all learners understand that LGBT people are an equal part of society.
