The Nerve of My Multiple Sclerosis CIC

5th September 2024

2024 Shortlisted Nominee
Community Organisation Award: Disability

The Nerve of My Multiple Sclerosis CIC is dedicated to supporting and advocating for Black individuals living with MS, with a particular focus on addressing the specific challenges faced by Black women. Their primary objective is to provide a safe space for open discussions about the disease, empower the community, and work towards reducing health inequalities. Additionally, they organise social activities to combat isolation and nurture a strong sense of community among members. Recognising the barriers created by racial prejudice in accessing medical care, they collaborate with healthcare professionals and research organisations to dismantle these obstacles. Their collective efforts aim to eradicate prejudices and advocate for a healthcare system that supports every community member. They not only offer support but also work towards positive transformations in healthcare, ensuring that every person with MS feels empowered, valued, and understood.
