The Kayaks Charity stands as a beacon of hope and support for families with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). From its humble beginnings as an information point within a SEN school, the charity has expanded into a vital support network across Tyne and Wear. Founded by Malcolm and Jill Osborne, and supported by dedicated volunteers, The Kayaks has provided essential education support, social opportunities, and community for over a decade. Under the stewardship of Alison Bland as Chair, The Kayaks continues to flourish, marking a milestone of over ten years of dedicated service. Their weekly family activity sessions, outings, and events serve not only as essential services but as lifelines for many, offering a sanctuary where differences are embraced and individual needs are met with empathy and care.
