Gateway 97.8 is the community radio station at the heart of Basildon's Eastgate, serving those within its reception area as well as global listeners via the internet. The station delivers the sounds of home, featuring the latest local news, and updates. Reflecting the interests and concerns of the vibrant local communities, Gateway 97.8 plays a diverse range of music while introducing new ideas and new tunes. The station maintains a critical eye on local and national politics, providing a platform for accountability and a forum for listeners to express their hopes and concerns. In addition to its broadcasting services, Gateway 97.8 supports the community through a radio club for young people, media qualifications, and alternative education placements. Each year, hundreds of children benefit from these initiatives, which are designed to overcome barriers and foster growth and development.
