Community Organisation Award: Race, Religion & Faith
BAMREF is a voluntary organisation led by football officials and allies who are passionate about changing the face of officiating in the English game. Since their inception in 2019 , BAMREF have lobbied football national bodies (FA & PGMOL) to address the historic under-representation of Black, Asian and Mixed Heritage officials in football. BAMREF have grown in membership with 500+ officials accessing their free advocacy and support. They have delivered three free National annual conferences at Villa Park, Wembley and Anfield Stadium which saw over 400 delegates attending. BAMREF have positive national press coverage for their work. Their exponential growth in membership and growing stature within the officiating world has led to Black and South Asian s Sam Allison, Sunny Singh Gill, Bhupinder Singh Gill and Akil Howson all making Premier League Debut.
