Africa Oyé is the UK’s largest celebration of the music and culture of Africa and the Diaspora in the UK. Starting as a series of gigs in the city centre in 1992, over the last 30 years the free festival has evolved into the ‘jewel in Liverpool’s festival crown” (Bido Lito!). The festival's work improves the lives of their audience through shared experience of cultures by bringing diverse communities together. Taking place each June in the picturesque surroundings of Sefton Park, the festival is a truly international event, that harnesses the spirit of multiculturalism and is open to all. Oyé's work contributes to regenerating neighbourhoods, encouraging community cohesion, fostering a sense of community pride, and improving health and wellbeing through creative and cultural activity. The festival now attracts between 50,000 and 80,000 people each year and has an international reputation for world class performances.
