2023 Shortlisted Nominee
Community Organisation Award: Age
Tia’s Crown is a charity set up to support mental and physical wellbeing through dance. Founded during lockdown to raise funds for NHS workers, this incredible organisation created a public version of Strictly Come Dancing, raising over £26k and live streaming globally. During the Strictly NHS process, Tia’s Crown worked closely with NHS staff, learning about the impact that the pandemic was having. Tia’s Crown gave away free dance lessons to boost the wellbeing of NHS workers and were shocked to see the impact these sessions were having. They became so popular that classes began to roll out across the UK. Their mission is to give as many free Let’s Dance sessions as possible, to give a boost to as many people as they can. Tia’s Crown’s biggest fundraising event is now Dance Floor Heroes. The funds raised help to ensure they can spread their magic far and wide, but also, give grants to other charities.
