2023 Shortlisted Nominee
Community Organisation Award: Gender
On the 5th of May 2012, Jenny Rayner and her family were tragically faced with the impact of mental illness when their daughter Lucy took her own life at the age of 22. At The Lucy Rayner Foundation, they provide a range of mental health support services, including mental health support groups throughout Surrey, free counselling for young adults and provide the Surrey Suicide Bereavement service. They passionately believe that mental health support should be accessible to all and are strong advocates of raising mental health awareness, especially among young adults. They run monthly coffee and chat mornings open to everyone, deliver support services for men and women, and spearheaded local fundraising event. In just one month the foundation saw over 155 young adults, offering a pillow and a comfort in the community. Not having a waiting list, they are there to support someone asap.
