Community Organisation Award: Disability
At StedyChefs Learning Centre, it is all about creating fun and exciting learning activities that are beneficial for adults with disabilities and learning difficulties. Starting up in 2017, things have expanded pretty quickly; from a smaller kitchen within a storage facility, to two amazing customised buildings specified for the service. The main goal for StedyChefs is to be able to provide the same amazing opportunities that they already do, for a large horizon of disadvantaged adults with disabilities or learning difficulties. Students grow their own vegetables and cook everything from scratch, whilst improving life skills, building self confidence and making friendships along the way. As a result of this phenomenal organisation, many students have gone on to receive paid employment, voluntary opportunities, and gained qualifications in Food Safety and Hygiene.
