2023 Shortlisted Nominee
Positive Role Model Award: Disability
After going blind aged 31, Dave found himself isolated. He founded Daisy Inclusive UK, a charity that helps disabled and vulnerable people and their families reach their true potential. Daisy now supports over 7,000 people a year through inclusive sport, arts, music, teaching and motivational talks plus much more. “For the first half of my life I was a frustrated entertainer. I’m not frustrated anymore. I love to entertain people and I get to do it my way. Give me a crowd and I will inspire them. Give me a lecture hall and I will teach them. Give me a theatre and I will entertain them. One thing is for certain. I am now able to say: My name is Dave Kelly. I am a blind man with a vision. I have blindness – blindness doesn’t have me.”
