Community Organisation Award: Race, Religion & Faith
Black Voices Cornwall are building a brand new Black Cornish History Curriculum which is being created by ethnically diverse communities and focuses on a fair representation of the presence of ethnic diversity in Cornwall to make available to every primary school in Cornwall by 2025. They are working with Plymouth University to create an effective training program around racial literacy and anti-racism. Since 2020 they have reached an estimated 15,000 people through their objectives, events and digital footprints, and provided Anti-Racism training to over 1,000 individuals. This incredible organisation is creating a robust cultural events calendar showing the importance of diversity within the arts and are compiling a directory of performers of colour and a black professional artists’ network. This year they welcomed 3000 members of the community to a one day celebration event in Truro.
