Community Organisation Award: LGBT
Wolverhampton LGBT+ have moved mountains to deliver what the local LGBT community needs. Completely volunteer led, the charity proudly boasts a diverse board of 7 trustees and over 15 volunteers. They aim to listen and respond to the wants and needs of LGBT+ folk in Wolverhampton and The Black Country and achieve this by holding annual consultations with the community and hearing their opinions. In 2018 this amazing organisation launched an LGBT+ counselling service which is now one of the leading counselling services in the area, boasting a 7-day turnaround from referral to counselling starting. They have received and continue to receive resounding feedback on the counselling service and how it has saved individuals locally. Other services include yoga, walking, bear and immigrant groups, bi-monthly cafe meet ups, as well as acting as an advice service for the community and partner organisations.
