Community Organisation Award: Gender
At 13 years old, Survivors Manchester is an ambitious and pro-active organisation, focusing on male survivors of rape and sexual abuse, ensuring no survivor is left behind! This male survivor-centred charity provides therapeutic and advocacy support to boys and men (and their loved ones) across all 10 Greater Manchester boroughs and all 15 North West prisons. Founded by a male survivor it was one of the first charities of its kind and now supports over 1,500 men (including trans and non-binary individuals) annually. The organisation works tirelessly in pursuit to #BreakTheSilence of the sexual abuse / rape of boys and men; has broken new ground working with Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and currently Eastenders to ensure truthful stories are told; been actively involved in the development of government policy in tackling sexual violence; and delivered its message across the world.
