Claire Mooney is a singer, songwriter and lifelong activist. In 1989 she was given a record contract, and in 1992 she set up her own label. Claire has released seven albums of protest, pride and passion - all full of love and have enjoyed worldwide airplay. She has performed across the UK and Ireland for over 40 years, with equality and diversity central to her work. Claire’s songs speak of injustice and peace, with topics including ending the abuse of women and girls, to ending stigma of HIV/Aids. Claire has worked for the last thirty years with groups in community settings to encourage others to use their voice and sing out about issues that affect them. She was the first patron of Manchester Pride and in 2021 received the Lord Mayor of Manchester’s Special Recognition Award for her work with women and girls, workers’ rights and tackling homophobia in the city.
