Community Organisation Award for Gender
The Us Programme is a bridge. They act as a bridge between their talented young women and successful organisations who are looking for such talent. All of their young girls are from working class backgrounds, and the programme aims to show that regardless of their start in life, they can succeed. The Us Programme works with young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds who need society’s help the most. The girls they work with are 15-19 years old, from low income households, are eligible for free school meals, are the first generation of their family to attend university and are young carers. Since their inauguration in September 2016, Us Programme have supported over 800+ young women across England, providing hope and creating tomorrow’s future female leaders. This vital project has been able to expand their reach and now have ambassadors working in London, Manchester, Leeds & Birmingham.
