Community Organisation Award for Age
Skylarks is an independent, parent-led charity of 14 years based in the borough of Richmond-upon-Thames. Their main focus is to support children and young people with disabilities from 0-25 years and their whole families. They do this by providing relevant services, therapies and play sessions online and at an easy to access community centre in Twickenham. Skylarks has grown its member base from a handful to over 4,000 members. They have established good links with the community including Local Authorities, MP’s, schools and associated professionals. Activities for children include, drama, music therapy, cookery, karate, Makaton, and counselling, whilst parents can receive advice and guidance from a range of organisations, attend workshops and access support. Skylarks continues to soar with the aim of helping the next generation to thrive and to be their best selves.
