Black Health Initiative is a community engagement organisation addressing inequalities and inequities in Education, Health and Social Care. BHI successfully works with and for those who face barriers of access to services, locally, regionally and nationally. BHI does this by working in effective partnership with the NHS trusts/foundations, Large Cancer charities, education providers and other voluntary organisations. The five key projects that BHI carries out work through are; Women’s Health and Wellbeing Project; Men’s Health and Wellbeing Project; Teenage Health and Wellbeing and their culturally aware Counselling Project which has BACP registered counsellors carrying out 1-2-1/family and groups therapy. In 2014 this remarkable charity launched the only diverse National Cancer Programme in the UK at the House of Common – BME Cancer Voice, addressing the inequality of access and services within the Cancer disparities.
